Before and after treatment

Avoid sun (at least 3 weeks in advance)

  • Avoid direct exposure to the sun or tanning beds.
  • Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen SPF 30 or higher daily.

No self-tanners or exfoliants beforehand

  • Stop 1-2 weeks in advance:
    • Self-tanning creams
    • Retinol, AHAs (glycolic acid), BHAs (salicylic acid)
    • Scrubs or peelings

No other aggressive skin treatments shortly before

  • Wait minimally:
    • 2 weeks after chemical peels or microneedling
    • 1 month after intensive facial treatments or fillers

Skin must be intact and free of infection

  • No treatment at:
    • Active acne breakouts or wounds
    • Herpes (unless preventive antiviral is taken)
    • Skin irritation or sunburn

Immediately after treatment

  • Use a soothing cream such as:
    • Aloe vera gel (pure)
    • Cicalfate, Bepanthen or other restorative ointment

Avoid sun & heat

  • Avoid direct sun exposure for at least 6 weeks
  • No tanning, sauna or intense exercise for the first 48-72 hours
  • Continue to use SPF 50 daily, even in cloudy weather

No makeup for the first 24 hours

  • If necessary: use mineral makeup (after 24 hours)
  • Avoid products with perfume or alcohol

Skin care customization

  • Use mild cleansers and no exfoliating products for at least 5-7 days
  • Discontinue retinol, acids or vitamin C temporarily until skin is fully restored

Support hydration & recovery

  • Drink plenty of water
  • Use hydrating serums or creams (e.g., hyaluronic acid)

Frequently asked questions about the Fotona Starwalker MaQX

Most clients experience only a slight tingling or warm sensation. Some treatments such as tattoo removal may be more sensitive, but this is well tolerated. A numbing cream is applied if necessary.

It depends on the indication and skin condition. On average, 3 to 6 treatments are required for optimal results, at 4-6 week intervals. Tattoos or deep pigment may require more sessions.

Most treatments with the StarWalker have little to no downtime. You can often resume your daily activities immediately. Depending on the treatment type, temporary redness, swelling or flaking may occur.

Yes, the StarWalker is safe for all skin types, including dark skin, thanks to its short pulse duration and precise settings. Extra care is taken with melasma or pigment-sensitive skin.
