Acne is common during puberty, but adults can also suffer from it. It is a condition that can affect anyone, regardless of age or skin type. Acne can range from mild to severe and often has a major impact on self-esteem and quality of life.
What is acne?
Acne is a chronic inflammatory disease of the sebaceous glands in the skin, which manifests mainly in the form of pimples, blackheads and, in severe cases, cysts and nodules. It occurs mainly in areas with many sebaceous glands, such as the face, chest, back and shoulders.
There are different types of acne including:
Acne vulgaris:
This is the most common form, often seen in teenagers and young adults. It is characterized by blackheads, pimples, and sometimes larger, painful lumps (nodules) or cysts.
Acne conglobata:
This is a severe, chronic form of acne characterized by large, painful lumps and cysts deep in the skin. These can become inflamed and leave scars. Acne conglobata is more common in men and often affects the back, shoulders and chest.
Acne tarda:
This form of acne affects adults, usually women, after the age of 25. It can manifest as pimples and blackheads, often around the mouth, chin and jawline.

Treatments for acne
Acne is a complaint that requires customization. Acne where blackheads are in the foreground, for example, requires a different approach than acne with deep inflammation. Our skin therapists will assess the skin during a consultation and put together a treatment plan with you.
Microneedling
By activating the skin with precision, microneedling balances sebum production and reduces impurities. The skin looks purer, calmer and more refined in texture.
Chemical Peeling
The purifying action of a peel reduces impurities and regulates sebum production. The skin looks fresher, calmer and takes on a more refined appearance.
Hydrafacial
The HydraFacial deeply purifies the skin with a combination of gentle exfoliation, extraction and intensive hydration. Impurities are removed, pores refine and skin regains a healthy, fresh balance.
