(Acne) scars
Home " Skin Problems " (Acne) scars
For many people, scars are not only a visible reminder of an injury, acne or surgery, but can also cause insecurity, itching, pain or restriction of movement (as in scars after burns).
What are (acne) scars?
(Acne) Scars generally occur after damage to the skin caused by infection, surgery or trauma. An acne scar is permanent, visible damage in the skin after acne. These scars occur on the face, chest and back. Camouflaging these scars is often difficult due to the textural differences and this can have a great impact on daily life.
There are different types of scars:
Normal scars
Originate after a wound caused by trauma or surgery. These are common scars with a coarse texture.
Acne scars
Permanent changes in skin structure that occur after inflamed pimples or acne breakouts. They occur when the skin does not fully repair itself after damage to the underlying tissue.
Hypertrophic scars
Thickened, raised scars result from excessive collagen production.
Keloid scars
Grow outside the edges of the original wound and they are often thick, shiny, red or dark in color.
Atrophic scars
Sunken or "indented" scars due to loss of skin tissue. Common with acne or chicken pox.
Contracture scars
Often arise after burns or deep injuries. The skin often tightens, which can make movement difficult or even painful.

Treatments for (Acne) Scars
Fortunately, there are several effective treatments available today to treat scars. During a consultation, the Skin Therapist will assess the scar and create a treatment plan. Microneedling or a chemical peel are effective and safe treatment methods to treat scars.
Fotona Starwalker MaQX
The Fotona Starwalker MaQX is the most powerful and advanced laser available today! If you want even skin, a pigment-free complexion, scar reduction or tattoo removal, the Fotona Starwalker makes it possible. Safely and with amazing results.
Microneedling
Microneedling promotes the production of new collagen and elastin, gradually softening acne scars. Skin texture becomes smoother and takes on a visibly refined appearance.
Chemical Peeling
A peel stimulates cell renewal in the deeper skin layers. As a result, blemishes and acne scars gradually fade away, while the skin texture becomes smoother and more even.
