The choice for your skin

Cellulite

Cellulite is especially common in women. It is estimated that about 80-90% of all women get cellulite at some point in their lives. This is because the connective tissue and fat structure is different in women than in men, which makes the development of cellulite easier.

What is cellulite?

Cellulite, also known as orange peel, is a common skin problem in which the skin takes on a lumpy, bumpy texture. This occurs because fat cells under the skin push against connective tissue, creating an uneven skin texture. This problem is most common on the thighs, buttocks, hips and sometimes the abdomen.

Main causes of cellulite

  • Fat accumulation under the skin: Too much fat in the subcutaneous layer causes fat cells to expand and push against connective tissue.
  • Connective tissue structure: The connective tissue between fat cells is often tighter and arranged in orbits in women. This allows fat to push upward more easily and cause bulges.
  • Poor circulation and fluid accumulation: Decreased blood circulation and lymphatic stagnation can cause waste products and fluid to accumulate, making cellulite more visible.
  • Hormonal factors: Hormones such as estrogen play a role in fat distribution and skin elasticity, especially in women.
  • Lifestyle factors: Insufficient exercise, a one-sided diet, smoking and stress can promote the appearance of cellulite.
  • Heredity: The predisposition to cellulite may also be genetic.

Treatments Against Cellulite

Connective tissue massage

A connective tissue massage is an intensive massage technique that targets the deeper layers of skin and subcutaneous connective tissue. It stimulates circulation, improves skin structure and promotes the production of collagen
